Veolia: We are currently involved in ongoing monitoring and lobbying against Veolia’s business presence on Merseyside. Presently, we are lobbying the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority who have recently assigned Veolia “Preferred bidder status” in relation to The Waste Management and Recycling contract (WMRC.)
Supermarkets: Currently we engage in regular leafleting and picketing activities at local Tesco stores and have initiated a dialogue with the Manager of the Clayton Square store. Up until now, the leafleting appears well received by customers. We also initiated a postcard campaign for Tesco customers to object to the sale of Israeli and West Bank produce.

UK issues new guidance on labelling of food from illegal West Bank settlements
11th December 2009
Stickers could read ‘Israeli settlement produce’, but move is not a boycott, says Foreign Office. The government’s move falls short of a legal requirement but is bound to increase the prospects of a consumer boycott of products from those territories.

Settlement Produce -Response from Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Thank you for your letter of 10 March to Hilary Benn about produce labelling.
On 31 March the Cabinet Office hosted a roundtable meeting with representatives from food retailers and trading organisations. They discussed the draft of new, voluntary guidance on origin labelling of produce from Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs).
DEFRA will now edit the guidance and consider how to take forward its publication. The objective of the guidance remains to help retailers and traders provide clearer origin-labelling for products from the OPTs, particularly from the West Bank. DEFRA hopes to publish the guidance in the near future.
Yours sincerely

UK COMPANIES AND ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS
Read this latest research document. It could serve as an important tool for advocating divestment and boycotting Israeli products and/or making business with settlement-based production centres.
